⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Superb Cycling Tour week.
I joined the Authentic Algarve Road tour in April 2024.
I was a little apprehensive joining a group of strangers to cycle every day for a week(most I have ever done since starting cycling in 2017 is 2 days in a row!)
What I experienced was the MOST fabulous week of cycling. Fiona, whose company Paradise is, works soooo hard to ensure everyone is happy and tailors the riding to all the different needs.
If you want to climb hard and log 100km+ a day you can, if you want to potter along stopping to photograph the absolutely stunning scenery ,you can.
The routes are varied but all breathtaking -the planned cafe stops are absolute perfection with artisanal coffee and pastries to die for.But it keeps repeating day after day ,regardless of the route.
Fiona has perfected the art of cycle tours and she has infectious enthusiasm and energy.
It is hard to find anything to critique -I suppose I could mention 2 hours of rain but that was in 7 days of otherwise unbroken sunshine -and that certainly wasn’t her fault!!
The two hotels were perfect in terms of location, room size, roof terrace and jacuzzi at one (ask for the sports massage on day 3 -it was superb) and a large pool and hot tub outside Tavira and even bigger rooms .
Great restaurants throughout -it is going to be hard to find a better cycle tour than this.
For the stats people- did 260 miles in the week, 20000 feet of climbing including the iconic Malhao,18% in parts (with a Buddhist temple at the peak!)
If you want a fantastic week of cycling with stunning scenery and the most charming tour leader in Portugal -this is it folks :)
